Not a good poll for SF really. Of they are to see government I suspect SD also need a good election. otherwise I see FF and FG getting in. I hope I’m wrong

  1. MoE 3.3%

There’s not one meaningful movement in this poll.

    Same bullshit every month.

(Btw if SF get into government it will be in a coalition)

  2. Assumes SDs will go in with anyone, which I doubt. SF/FF coalition still seems the most likely, as a good election for SF probably means a bad election for other lefty parties.

  3. The Social Democrats will have to change their name to the Social Democrat soon enough.

Not sure how it’s “not a good poll” for Sinn Féin. 37%, if replicated at an election (and I doubt that, but indulge me), would be the best performance by any party since 2007, and it indicates continued momentum for them. They seem to be reaching support towards a level which, in our system, starts returning second and third TDs and a majority government.

If I was a Sinn Féin supporter I’d be extremely pleased at being on 37% just as the cost of living crisis is escalating, the housing shortage is becoming more acute by the hour, and inflation is happening.

Fianna Fáil usually lose office because they’ve fucked the economy and people turn to Fine Gael instead. But Fine Gael have their fingerprints all over the balance sheet this time.

Looking at those Labour figures, I don’t think I’m going to invest in any “Ivana Bakic, Labour leader” merchandise. They made a significant gamble that changing their leader would improve their standing in the polls and it’s just not happening for them. People look at Ivana Bakic and seem to be seeing Helen McEntee in a red frock.

  4. RedC is more accurate than the other polling companies, it’s entirely possible, actually probable, Sinn Féin have already broke 40% AND we don’t know how people will vote down the ballot so I would bet that Sinn Féin are in an extremely good position to enter government next time but there will be plenty of surprises over the next couple of years so things could change.

Social Democrats are not on 0%, I’d bet my life on that

  5. At some stage the greens or labour will have to agree to go into coalition with them, either that or FF would have to have the mother of all fall outs with FG.

  6. SF-FF coalition is the most obvious next government. Martin was the only one standing in the way last time and he is unlikely to be around after the next election.

  7. Based on those kind of numbers I just can’t see any viable government not including at least 2 of FF, SF or FG being involved. Trying to cobble a working government from the rag tag bunch of smaller parties and independents remaining just doesn’t seem viable to me.

  8. So our election choices are:

    1. Pick a party that uses our taxes for the benefit of high level spongers
    2. Pick a party that uses our taxes for the benefit of low level spongers
