I think this is a very rational choice and I’m sure UK would organize a terrific show.
It was an inevitability unfortunately, even in the most optimistic of circumstances over the war it was always going to be tough to ensure necessary security for hosting in Ukraine, especially given the preparation time needed.
I hope that the UK still try and forge a joint hosting somehow though, and invite the Ukrainians to co-host, so the presenting team is half and half, and they help design the stage etc or something (I am sure much more goes into it than I know). I am sure it is inevitable that the half time/intro will reflect Ukraine at the very least.
For some reason the Ukrainians are busy with other things, not sure what…
BBC sweating rn…
> There is also a suggestion that the EU is working on a rival bid to move next year’s contest to Brussels, where it would be hosted on behalf of Ukraine in a symbolic gesture of solidarity from the “capital of the EU”.
Of course they are, can’t dare to see the UK do anything positive. Being a symbolic gesture of solidarity would however fit in well with how the EU has aided Ukraine, nothing but symbolic gestures. Whilst individual nations in the EU have stepped up to the plate and then some the EU as an organisation have been notable by their absence.
