It was my first ever metal gig at the ripe old age of 14. Fantastic day out, even if Ozzy didn’t show. Would love to hear anyones memories of the day!

  1. Yes. A great day. Pity about Ozzy but Tool were outstanding. System of a Down were amazing as were Slayer.

  2. Best part was when Slayer played “Raining blood” and it pissed rain for the entire song and when the song was over it stopped

Also glad I got to see Drowning Pool before Dave Williams died

I do regret getting Ian Watkins autograph these days after we met him in the crowd. Wish I’d have known what I do now

  3. One of the highlights of my life was crowd surfing during “raining blood” by slayer. The crowd were in a total froth. A bouncer tried to grab me and pull me down but as he did, I was launched forwards and ended up booting him full in the face by accident. He recoiled, then made another grab for me. The crowd around me saw it happen and responded by pushing me backwards, so that I was now travelling away from the stage. I was eventually dropped on my arse but only about 3 or 4 meters from where I started. I squoze my way back toward my mates who said they saw me disappear and figured I’d been nabbed by the bouncers. I was promptly handed a spliff and a can and we all went back to breaking each other up. Top notch day out. Even got free tickets to Meatloaf out of it because ozzie didn’t get a brandy glass of brown M+Ms or whatever and didn’t go on stage that night.

  4. Yes, had to beg my parents to be allowed to go. It was before my junior cert. Nearly got squished by big mental lads in the pit when Slayer came on.

  5. YES. Amazing day. The things that stands out in my mind is the crowd going Fully Wild when Therapy? played the opening bars of Master of Puppets, System of a Down playing a stunning set, all the middle aged lads in old t-shirts coming out of the woodwork during the Slayer set, and Tool’s extended set being so much better than Ozzy would have been if he hadn’t “broken his leg” or whatever the excuse was. Great day.

  6. Drove up in my Nissan micra, 18 years old and with the boyfriend at the time. Found €70 on the walk up from the car park, was delighted with myself.
Slayer blew me away! Got absolutely soaked but great craic altogether!

  7. Yes. I was 12. My babysitter brought me to Temple Bar to meet the ppl bringing me (all older) and I was mortified lol
I remember they all got so drunk and I was offered a pill (I did half) and I ended up hooking up with a 16 yr old girl which as a 12 ye old boy was like all my christmases coming at once lol

Looking back it’s insane my parents let me go and that I did a pill at 12.

If I remember correctly Ozzie even cancelled?!

  8. Remember it well.
Just one in a list of snubs from ozzy.
Was thrilled to see system, drowning pool, slayer and happy to hear new stuff like Il ninio and tool.

Only regret was not seeing American head charge on the second stage.
