This is only logical. Brussels Airport is in Flanders. All other airports are regional. Brussels Airport is the only exception, making our state structure more complex.
And Wallonia will never allow a refederalisation of the airports because for them they are essential infrastructure since they don’t have large harbours.

Or our educational system breaking down because there aren’t enough teachers. Not to mention the interest rates soon rising which will bring out all the austerity fucks again led by corporate stooges who need to safeguard their bonuses and shareholder profits. It makes sense they want it. Even though not all their voters may want an independent Flemish state, THAT is the end-goal for N-VA.
With that in mind, it makes sense they try to grab as much stuff as possible, that way it’s already theirs and not negotiable in any “Belgian divorce”.
Has nothing to do with efficiency or whatever, it’s just empire building.

There is only one true Belgian solution for the issue of having the national “Brussels” airport exclusively in Flanders.
Build a new airport in Hoeilaart or St-Genesius-Rode and make sure the runways and terminals also go into Brussels region and Walloon region.
Don’t forget to only provide Dutch signs in the Flemish terminal part, French signs in the Walloon terminal part and bilingual signs in the Brussels terminal part.
