Lake Garda in Italy has experienced a rare natural phenomenon known as “seiche,” a standing wave that forms in enclosed or partially enclosed bodies of water, often caused by rapid weather changes, seismic activity or strong winds.

Local authorities reportedly monitored the situation closely, although no major damage or safety concerns were immediately reported around Lake Garda.

The event, triggered by atmospheric pressure and wind conditions, created unusual movements in the lake’s surface and temporarily altered water levels along parts of the shoreline. Experts described the occurrence as uncommon but naturally occurring. Similar phenomena have previously been recorded in lakes across Europe and North America.
