No change for UGI natural gas rates in June, increase projected to begin December

PENNSYLVANIA (WTAJ) — UGI announced Friday that purchased gas rates will not change beginning June 11, though an increase is projected to take effect come December.

The utility company filed its latest gas cost rates for review with the Pennsylvania Utility Commission (PUC), where they projected the December increase for customers who purchase natural gas through them. Customers could see their monthly heating bill increase from $118.53 to $120.99 or about 2.1%. Commercial customers would see their bill rise from $354.51 to $363.93, and industrial customers would see an increase of 2.8% from $683.84 to $703.01.

UGI notes these would be projected increases that would still need to be approved. The purchased gas cost rate recovers the costs of natural gas supplies, UGI said, which the company purchases from the market for its customers.
