  1. They couldn’t force companies to keep the same salaries and reduce the work week to 35 hours, but they could make it optional to switch to the 35h week and get a 12.5% pay cut, (which still wouldn’t be fair for companies)

I wonder how many people would take that ?

  2. Please let people work who want to

And before I get the boomer-treatment, I am 34 yo. Some of us are very happy with our jobs, enjoy being productive parts of society while benefitting from the perks of a social structure.

For those who have the feeling of being overwhelmed by your jobs, have you tried asking for a reduction in hours? That’s what I did when my son was born. No need to impose it on the whole country

  3. how come as a university student I work 60h but when I join the workforce I won‘t even be able to get paid for 40?!

this is stupid, why don‘t we let people work?

  4. In the netherlands some companies have a 34 hours max. work week. E.g. health insurance companies. Banks have a 36 hour work week. I don’t want back.

  6. I’m worried about job market competiveness and individual total compensation.

35h/week might not mean better wlb… Imagine the salaries will remain the same and the workers employed remain the same too so its highly possible that the pressure to deliver in less hours will increase. We will end up doing overtime and many companies will try to avoid these extra costs somehow.

Plus more regulation to labor laws will only increase unemployment and make hiring more difficult for all parties.

For the ones complaining, if you want better wlb change fields. I want to work and make money. If possible to do it working less, great… But I don’t believe it
