Roadblocks planned on M6 in West Midlands in protest at soaring fuel prices

  1. Haven’t the govt. just made protests like these illegal?

Be interesting to see if they treat the anti-tax lobby the same as climate protesters.

  2. Until Sterling stops it’s collapse against the Dollar (the currency oil is traded in) it’s only going to get worse.

Wonder if the penny dropped yet for the Brexit voters…

  3. Conspiracy theory: these protests are planned by the fuel companies to burn even more fuel. Lol who is downvoting this it’s a joke?

  4. Fucking extinction rebellion at it again!

This isn’t how you protest, we should be peacefully campaigning the government by letter and such other means as they deem appropriate.

  5. Good stuff.

The more people show their discontent with the way the country is being run, the better.

(And before anyone says that this isn’t the governments fault as they don’t set the oil prices – they do set both fuel duty and vat on petrol and diesel which could be removed overnight)

  6. A rolling roadblock limiting speed on the motorway to 30mph will save quite a bit of fuel.

  7. UK:
    Human Rights under threat zzzz
    Kids starving zzzzz
    Laws broken zzzz
Petrol cost more hold my gregs.

  8. Never mind the protesters, what kind of illiterate disgrace of a “journalist” writes “would see traffic halted to 30mph” ?

  9. The stereotype of the smug cyclist is true. I feel smug AF any time I hear about fuel/protests/see a line at a petrol station/traffic.

  10. What!!! you mean ordinary working people who are fed up with poor treatment, are going on strike as a protest…well I never what next, railway workers stopping the railways by striking…oh that’s an actual thing…ok…

  11. How is this going to help?

It’ll just mean people will use more fuel (cuz they’re stuck in traffic) and make people late for work, so they won’t be able to afford the extra fuel they wasted on the way there

  12. By blocking the streets around Parliament and downing Street rather than preventing regular people from getting to and from work.

I don’t see how this seems like a good idea to you. What good is it going to do really? People stuck in traffic will be pissed at them as much as they are at high fuel prices, news stories will be about the blocked roads and transport disruption not the actual issue

  13. With the way how this country is going it’s unsurprising. First I saw a rail company strike post. Now this. Maybe these will be the first of many to show the brits are finally taking action into wanting some real change instead of being pushed over

  14. I’m all for the protest so long as I can still get my partner to the airport so she can finally visit her parents since COVID has begun.

  15. But what about tha ambulances?

Seriously though have they considered just not buying fuel, in protest?

  16. Ah yes, the answer to people not being able to drive because fuel is too expensive is obviously to stop people being able to drive because the roads are fucking cluttered.

They might as well be fighting a fire with petrol.

  17. I trust the media will be fine with people assaulting these people just as they were with Insulate Britain

  18. So they’re protesting high fuel prices by causing traffic and leading ordinary people to waste fuel in said traffic and then have to go and buy more expensive fuel?
