US President Donald Trump’s special representative for Greenland, Jeff Landry, has traveled to Nuuk.
Modern.az reports that local media reported this.
Landry, who also serves as Louisiana governor, had previously supported Trump’s proposal to bring Greenland under US control. This position met with strong resistance from the Greenlandic and Danish authorities, who repeatedly stated that the island was not for sale.
Landry is expected to attend a business conference on the future of the island on May 19-20. He will be joined by US Ambassador to Denmark Kenneth Houer. The conference organizers stated that they did not send a personal invitation to the special representative, but that registration for the event was open.
The US Embassy in Copenhagen had previously announced that Landry and Houer intended to meet with a wide range of Greenlandic representatives to discuss economic opportunities, humanitarian ties, and strengthening mutual understanding between the parties.
