cześć wszystkim!
i will be driving a rental from [berlin to strykow](https://i.imgur.com/14oCigI.png). but apparently A2 motorway is by e-toll only.
how does one go about this?
should i just install the [official app](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.gov.mf.etoll&hl=en&gl=US) and it will automatically take care of the tolls via gps? (currently it has 1,3 star rating, so i have some reservations about it 🙂)
or would you recommend another payment method?
dzięki!

You can use different app, like skycash.
You have to register your car’s license plate number and payment method. Gates will scan your plate numbers and take money from your account.
It’s not based on GPS.
better is just to avoid A2, etoll is fucked up
You can buy it on petrol station if you’re gonna stop for fuel but they will ask you for timeline for your travel etc and I’m not sure if you can do it on every petrol station. Definitely on Orlen owned by government
A2 features two separate toll systems. From Świecko to Konin you will have to pay at a toll booth. There’s no way to pay the toll via an app of any kind. From Konin eastwards you have to buy an e-toll ticket. Use the [e-TOLL Ticket app](https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.gov.mf.ebilet&hl=pl&gl=US). Select Konin Wschód (or just Konin, I’m not sure) as the entry point and Stryków as the exit point. Provide the start date and the licence plate as well. This will spare you the trouble of using the app you linked, which uses a very hit-or-miss tracking system. If you find the app difficult to use you can also buy a physical ticket at almost every petrol station.
All of the above is based on the assumption that you will be driving a car, not a truck.
There is also another official app called [e-TOLL PL BILET](https://apps.apple.com/pl/app/e-toll-pl-bilet/id1594340584?l=pl), where you just buy a ticket valid for 24 hours and there is no GPS tracking required. You need to select Konin Wschód as your entry point (since you are travelling from Berlin) and Stryków as the exit point. You can pay by credit card, BLIK and some other online payment systems. When you enter a paid section of a motorway your license plate will be automatically scanned and at that point in time you need to have a ticket which is already valid.
The A2 toll system is fucked up. You have to use two different apps:
* for the first leg of the journey you can use Skycash app or pay at the booth
* for the next leg either buy a ticket in advance in “e-toll ticket” app or at a petrol station. You can buy a ticket after your journey (up to 3 days) but you risk a fine if police stops you on the A2 without a valid ticket.
Don’t even try to install and set up the official app. Tbe process is complex, you need a phone AND a computer to finish the registration. You also need a “profil zaufany”, which is a government approved digital identity.
