Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been keeping a low profile in the wake of his fall from grace, maintaining a public silence. But privately, a new report claims, the ex-prince has been busy plotting his revenge.
The former Duke of York wants to retaliate against Prince William and Kate Middleton for their part in his royal exile, an insider told the National Examiner.
“He’s a very bitter and angry man right now,” the insider said. “Instead of making an effort to pick up the pieces, he’s become obsessed with trying to ruin the people he sees as the architects of his downfall.”
Mountbatten-Windsor’s fall from grace has been dramatic. In late 2025, amid renewed scrutiny of his relationship with predator Jeffrey Epstein, King Charles III stripped his brother of his royal titles and honors as the monarchy attempted to distance itself from the scandal.
The fallout intensified in early 2026 when the former Prince Andrew was forced out of Royal Lodge, the Crown Estate mansion he’d called home for more than two decades.
In February, Mountbatten-Windsor — who’s long denied any wrongdoing related to Epstein — was arrested on suspicion of misconduct in public office weeks after the U.S. Department of Justice released emails suggesting he passed sensitive government documents to the disgraced financier while serving as Britain’s trade envoy.
Plotting payback

Mountbatten-Windsor may no longer be in The Firm’s good graces, but the Examiner‘s insider claimed he still has enough connections to cause trouble from the sidelines.
“Andrew still has people inside the palace he speaks to,” the insider said. And those people are “feeding him information that he’s using to his advantage any way he can with the aim of making life hard for his nephew,” the insider added. “Any chance he gets to create tension between William and the rest of the family, he takes.”
The insider alleged that the former Duke of York has become fixated on striking back at the Prince and Princess of Wales after losing his titles, his royal home and his place in the family’s public life.
Like his wife, “William has been openly disdainful of Andrew,” the insider told the outlet. “Now Andrew’s vowed to spend the next several years making life miserable for them however he can.”
According to the insider, Mountbatten-Windsor feels he has little left to lose. “His life has already crumbled around him,” the insider said. “He feels like there’s no way out.”
Kate’s snubs
The alleged bitterness may go back to how Kate distanced herself from Mountbatten-Windsor after his ties to Epstein came under renewed scrutiny.
According to the Examiner‘s insider, she was among the first to freeze him out. “Kate was actually the first one in the family to snub him after everything came out about him and Epstein,” the insider said. “She stopped speaking to Andrew at family functions and even barred him from attending her Christmas concert.”
That allegation echoes recent reporting from Page Six. Author Christopher Andersen — who wrote the new biography Kate! The Courage, Grace and Power of the Woman Who Will be Queen — told the outlet Kate was the first royal to wash her hands of William’s disgraced uncle.
“She is the first royal to cut him off, to turn her back on him,” Andersen said. As for her annual holiday concert in London, “He asked, through intermediaries, if he could slip in a side door,” the author shared, adding that the former Duke of York was told, “Nope, we don’t want your face on camera.”
Andersen said the Princess of Wales had two major reasons for taking such a firm stance. “Kate is looking forward,” he said, explaining she does not want the institution tainted by damaging revelations and associations. “She’s the wife of a future monarch” and the “mother of a future monarch.”
Andersen also claimed William and Kate both pressured Charles to strip Mountbatten-Windsor of his titles.
