President Donald Trump had a pointed one-word response when asked about a potential successor, the Daily Mail reported.
During an interview with Fortune Editor-in-Chief Alyson Shontell, Trump was asked which of three people would be the best at carrying on his dealmaking legacy: Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio or Trump’s son, Donald Jr.
As she put the question to the commander-in-chief in the Oval Office, Shontell pointed out that Vance had “quietly slipped into the back of the room” and would hear Trump’s answer.
“Whoever gets this [job] is going to be very important,” Trump replied. “And if you get the wrong person: disaster.”
When Shontell pressed the president on who could continue his brand of top-down economic power plays, Trump dismissed the notion that it could ever be replicated.
“Can’t answer that question,” the commander-in-chief said. “I don’t know. I mean, it’s not going to happen again.”
Trump also used the interview, which took place shortly before he left Washington, D.C., for his summit in China, to lash out again at the Supreme Court for its recent decision against Trump’s tariffs.
“It really pisses me off,” Trump said.

The president added: “Can you imagine, to people who hate us, to countries that ripped us off for years, I’ve got to give them back $149 billion.”
Trump said that he would merely be delayed until he finds another way to implement his tariffs. He defended his abilities as a dealmaker.
“I make one of those deals every day that no normal person would make,” Trump said.
