Originally there was a huge stone monument built in 1907 for the thousand year anniversary of the state but is was destroyed later, in its place this huge Turul bird (as said before mythological creature) monument was built as a memento. The funny thing in this post is that I was just there today, and just got home from that hiking tour. 😀 There is a nice cave up there called Szelim-cave, and also a cool lookout tower, you should definitely visit in your freetime with some friends. If you can rent a car and go up to the parking area next to the bird, then the hike around that area is not hard at all.

Turul monument above Tatabanya, for more you can google it. Also there is a nice cave near by, where one of the Witcher episode took. I guess the dragon one if I am right. The cave’s name is Szelim barlang (=cave), worth to give it a look!
