Gatwick cuts summer flights after staff shortages

  1. Just got back in the house after spending 17 hours trying to get back to Gatwick from Rome airport yesterday and this morning as Easyjet flights were cancelled.

Awful experience, I wouldn’t like to be anyone travelling to and from Gatwick when it reaches high season.

  2. > The aviation industry made thousands of employees redundant during the pandemic and many have yet to be replaced, despite a spike in demand for travel.

Summary: They treated their staff like shit and are puzzled why people are not eager to return and receive more shit.

    Slow clap for short-term capitalism.

  3. Have they brought in the reduced compensation for cancellations yet, which I recall along with mobile roaming charge coming back was another brexit benefit.

  4. Paying staff more and treating them better is the only logical solution, so you know it will be the absolute last resort airlines will try after a summer of record cancellations and terrible press.

  5. That seems better than booking people onto flights that they already know they can’t operate (like every element of the industry did last month)!

  6. Get rid of your staff during covid pandemic and then expect them to come running back to shit wages and crap conditions. Get real.
