Why, at this point, would anyone sensible associate themselves with this clown? Everyone has realised what many of us knew from day one, that he has no ideas, no vision, no work ethic, no drive to get things done and, most importantly, no integrity. The man is one of the worst leaders a Western democracy has ever had to endure. A complete buffoon.
No doubt lots of positioning going on, Starmer/Labour/Opposition in general are fairly hopeless, Boris is trying to please his loyalists and might call a snap election when he is up in Polls.
