There is similar in Singapore called PayNow. Its pretty handy in fairness, especially for traders without card machines. It is high time Irish banks modernise, their service has been horrifying for years in comparison to other countries.
Considering BOI can’t even manage to have a semi-functional app, I won’t hold my breath for this.
Have they missed the boat? I don’t need an alternative to Revolut, it’s perfectly grand.

Revolut is perfectly fine for me
I couldn’t see AIB or BOI having the same extensive currency exchange you get with Revolut Premium and Metal.
The UI in the app is probably going to be pure muck as well (though I don’t love Revolut’s either).
If AIB and BOI are just going to bring out an inferior app for splitting restaurant and pub bills.
Revolut will be allowed to join this app too.
Does anyone else just find it ridiculous how to transfer from one bank to another, your money goes into a black hole for a couple days?
Banks next door manage these transfers instantaneously… why? Because they’ve entered the 21st century
