How Germany Gave Belgium Its Highest Mountain (And Then Tried To Take It Back)

  1. This video is peak Belgium. The bus was 15 minutes late AND diverted away from the road he needed due to roadworks.

  2. Not sure about the tone of the video. “Germany gave”, “because of Belgian shenanigans” and all that.

It’s simply part of the reparations from the very heavy destructions we suffered during ww1. Nothing weird or mysterious there.

  3. From my very Belgian patriot history teacher (I went to high school in the 80’s), those were belonging to Liège or some Dutch territories before either the French revolution, Waterloo battle or Belgium revolution. It was just them coming back to their original territories.

  4. After WW1 Belgium also wanted Zeeuws-Vlaanderen.
And after WW2 everyone wanted a piece of Germany.

This is why we had 2000 years of constant war in this continent until the EU was created.
