I am from Austria and having been on vacation a week in Stockholm, I noticed what I would call the Stockholm “glow” on women’s faces.
Please don’t get me wrong. I think everyone can do what he or she likes with their appearance. But I thought maybe an outsider’s perspective could be of interest to some here.
Edit: to summarize the responses so far
The men seem to agree generally
The women are trying to tell me I have to choose between having an opinion or letting everyone do what they like. Really? Come on
Btw some girl called me a prick for having an opinion about appearances. Is this the swedish way of democracy?

Think again and fuck off
Could be the case
Personally I do agree that some people over do their make-up. However, in the end it is their personal choice to look a particular way, something which I have no business criticising.
Too much for what?
To much for you to find it attractive?
to much that it’s bad for the skin?
to much that the glowing hurts your eyes?
you must give us more so we can solve this problem your for.
Well in the summer people like to look their best. Or maybe they just have a natural glow, idk. In the winter we all look depressed.
> women in Stockholm wear too much make-up

Pick one.
I would say it’s a certain type of woman.
I secretly call them “spackle ladies” in my head.
I felt the same when I was there but also felt happy that they were comfortable with doing what *they* wanted
Okay, and?
We actually had a summer hit about this in the 90’s, [“You are so pretty without your make-up”](https://youtu.be/AaFVXs8UsHw). It’s a banger.
I also sometimes feel like I have too much Reddit karma. Good luck OP and welcome to Sweden
Is it all women or is it a certain age group? I think the fashion for younger teenagers and 20-year olds are lots of foundation, powder and glowing products. They wear evening makeup at daytime. I do not care, every generation has their fashion. For many it is also a hobby, there are a lot of technique and products out there.
Well do i have news for you: women don’t give a fuck about your simp opinion.
Hmm never thought about this actually. Will pay extra attention next time im in town!
Since when did it not become ok to talk about our opinions and preferences about fashion? Insane how narrow minded so many reddiotors are, as soon as a topic goes outside their box of what they have perceived as “normal” and “okay” they have to downvote and insult the poster. Is Reddit not here for open discussion, learning and opening our eyes to different views and perspectives, or is it about us just agreeing with each other on non controversial topics?
To answer the question I do wholeheartedly agree that many women in Sweden have too much makeup, and I think it is a result of social media pushing this idea that the peak of women beauty is those that have puffy lips and look like Barbie dolls. Also, I think there is a lot of insecurity involved where some women never think they are beautiful enough and take more and more makeup in an attempt to look beautiful. It also kind of feels like so many women are trying to look the same, and I wish that was not the case and everyone was comfortable being themselves.
Austrian living in Sweden and I think honestly its not so different for Vienna and Stockholm.
In general if you are around Stockholm Central, you will get the same crowd as around the Ring/Stephansplatz and I do feel that those are quite similar. Then again due to Rona + life I haven’t been able to visit Vienna in, woah close to 3 years soon. Things might have changed.
Then again, they’re not wearing makeup for you. So your preference doesnt matter.
Which ones? My impression is that the whites go easier on the makeup while especially middle easterner, balkaners wear more make up and have more lavish styles in general
Ok
Yes there are alot of people that wear enough makeup and fake stuff to look like complete idiots.
Your mistake was to think that r/sweden would be ok with you voicing your opinion. Just remember that the special people on this subreddit is not representative of swedes in general.
kbro
Popular opinion: women in Austria wear too little make-up
100% agree.
Too much make up on the ladies and the guys wear clothes one size too small, which you can get away with if you’re fit. Which they aren’t.
>Btw some girl called me a prick for having an opinion about appearances. Is this the swedish way of democracy?
No, Swedish democracy is entirely unrelated to our opinions about people’s opinions. That’s the thing – people are allowed to have crappy opinions, and we’re allowed to have the opinion that their opinion is crappy.
