And much like in real war, if you refuse to invest in the correct weapons and tools you’ll lose. The European model of treating migration like a deadly plague while at the same time having no real common strategy and agency framework for integrating, creating sustainable and controlled migration flows, is much like arriving to a modern war wielding only a hammer and then screaming that the enemy is unfairly treating you – the Belarusian ”attacks” would have been toothless had we already had agencies that knew how to deal with these people. Instead a couple of thousand of people on our border freezing and starving is an issue no one knows or cares how to solve because there is just no institutional power or will to do it.
However, to be clear, I highly doubt the Polish PM has any wish to actually solve the migration issue in a sustainable way that benefits us as a continent and creates a long term framework for dealing with both hybrid attacks and climate caused migration flows. For Eastern European politicians it’s like stoking fear about LGBT issues – it’s a way how to get your voters to come out for you, and seeing e.g. America – it’s a Machiavellian strategy that absolutely works. Because in Eastern Europe (and our cousins in America) it’s nothing we fear more than the gays, blacks and muslims.
To any right-wingers – I *want* legal migration and I *want* integrated migrants. I also want circulatory migration that allows people who do not want to integrate (read: assimilate, since working is the key to actual integration as we know the phenomena in sociology) to work and get out when they don’t want to work, knowing that if they want more work they can come again. If you genuinely wish the same, then work with us and advocate for actual solutions rather than border fences or religious, ethnic quotas or restrictions. We have the money of the richest continent on the planet, and much like education, we can invest in our migration processes to create added value and minimize crime.
Well be facing an old form of war in just a minute. While we debate how not bo be provoked by the idi*t lukaszenko who uses humans as a sort of live shield, his ‘boss’ gathers a real army at Ukrainian borders.

Hope the polish are smarter than the Estonians. Elisa Estonia (mobile operator) let their network pentest by the English branch of a Russian company that is on the us embargo list nowadays. https://positive-tech.com/storage/clients/pt-ag-success-story-elisa-eng.pdf
