The U.S. and European Union have reached a deal on tariffs.

The European Union has agreed to remove duties on many American goods while allowing the U.S. to put a 15% tariff on most imports.
The deal, announced this week, mirrors one that the Trump administration reached with Europe in July 2025. However, the EU parliament has not ratified that agreement. Following a ruling by the U.S. Supreme Court that declared most of the tariffs the administration imposed were unconstitutional, the bloc paused ratification. The move angered President Donald Trump, who threatened to put a 25% tariff on all European autos if the agreement wasn’t approved by July 4.
A final vote is now expected in mid-June.
The agreement also reduces tariffs on some American agricultural and seafood products, as well as eventually lowering the tariff on imported European steel to 15% from the current 25%.
