Conservative donors who backed Boris Johnson ahead of confidence vote hand party another £2.4 million

  1. They are still receiving donations from known Russians so they are probably encouraging the shit job the tories are doing.

  2. The donations come from 11 of the 22 signatories to a blackmail instructing the Tory party to retain Johnson as its leader, on pain of withdrawing funds, cited by the Minister for Disinformation [on Sky News](https://nitter.net/damocrat/status/1533810384108494848#m) who Nadsplained:

    > “The Conservative party donors have said themselves that they aren’t going to support the party if the prime minister is removed. I think a number of MPs in marginal seats need to hear that, and need to understand what they’re doing.

    > “£18 million those donors have donated to the Conservative party over recent times, it’s those donors that have helped us to win the election, and they need to hear that message.”

    Labour’s Anneliese Dodds:

    > “If the big donors want Boris Johnson’s failing premiership to limp on then it will. They couldn’t care less about what’s best for our country.”

    A Conservative bullshiteer responded:
    > “The Conservative Party is proud to have the support of so many [tax avoiding offshore quasi-criminals]. They support the Conservatives because they understand what it takes to [protect obscene wealth and preserve inequality] and don’t want Labour to trash the economy as they do every time they are in government. [Now excuse me while I load my wheelbarrow with £20 notes – got a couple of loaves reserved at the local Aldi.]”

  3. So we’re ruled by a handful of faceless donors making decisions on how the country is run

  4. Foreign politicians will be laughing at how cheap you can buy the Tory party for.

Johnson is going to struggle at the next election without extensive media support, especially online. Those groups must be confident he can do something if they are still willing to donate to him now.

  5. This may seem like a controversial idea but I’d support taxpayer funded political campaigns and doubling MP’s pay, on condition that they are **completely banned from second jobs and receiving any form of donation**. At least then they would be working on behalf of the public.
The government should be laser focused on bringing justice regarding the PPE scandals and banning tax havens. Instead they are going after refugees and the poorest in society.

  6. It’s actually at the point where the corruption is so blatant and repetitive that it has become predictable.

It’s really no surprise, and many comments alluded to the idea that, it’s very probably a lot of MPs were “donated to” as a way of buying their vote for Operation: Save Big Dog.

My whole adult life all I’ve known is the country decline more and more and I’m losing hope of it being any other way.

  7. How is this basically not considered a bribe?

‘Donations’ from rich people are only to get the government to lean the way they want. Political donations shouldn’t really be allowed.
