Ireland will bask in the warmest day of the year this week with temperatures forecast to soar as high as 27C – meaning the country will be hotter than popular holidays destinations such as Ibiza, Barcelona, and Faro.
Met Eireann has said it will be “very warm with plenty of sunshine” over the coming days with clear blue skies and sunny conditions on the cards.
The warm spell began on Saturday which saw the mercury rise to 23C, with temperatures set to soar even higher on Sunday, which will see the thermometer hit 24C.
According to Met Eireann’s latest forecast, it will start off cloudy with patches of drizzle and mist in the north and west this morning, but sunshine will improve here through the afternoon and evening.
It will be dry with sunny spells in other areas, with highest temperatures of 18C to 24C generally, but not as warm near southern and northwestern coasts, with a light to moderate south to southwest breeze.

The glorious conditions will improve even further on Monday, which is set to be “warm or very warm with temperatures reaching 22C to 27C”, according to Met Eireann.
The national forecaster has revealed that 18 counties will see the best of the warm and sunny weather on Monday, with temperatures set to be highest in Munster and Leinster.
That means those in Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Waterford, Carlow, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Offaly, Longford, Louth, Meath, Laois, Westmeath, Wexford, and Wicklow will need to load up on the Factor 50 as they bask in the hottest day of the year so far.
The warm spell is set to stick around until at least midweek, with Tuesday expected to be another dry and sunny day, with the best of the weather set to be found in Munster yet again.

Met Eireann has said that while some cloud will affect the northern half of the country at times, there will be plenty of warm or very warm sunshine overall, with highest temperatures of 20C to 27C generally, warmest in Munster, although it will be cooler than this along north-facing coasts.
The national forecaster has warned that a few showers may develop in the southwest, but otherwise Wednesday will be a dry and warm day with plenty of sunshine. Met Eireann is forecasting Highest temperatures of 20C to 26C, warmest in Munster, with a light to moderate easterly breeze.
Unfortunately, there is a possibility of some showers on Thursday, but these will be mixed with warm sunny spells, with temperatures of 18C to 24C expected.
Met Eireann has said that current indications suggest that it will become less warm for the end of the week and into the Bank Holiday weekend, with showers and rain possible.
