Wouldn’t it be amazing if Australia did have the great inland sea that early explorers were searching for, moderating it’s climate. An Australia with the geography of that image would have a much smaller land area, but could support a much larger population.
I saw this pic somewhere with a comment of “if you actually did this it would drown, like, five people”
If that was real, Australia would be very, very lush. Tropical paradise.
When it fits, I sits!
As an Australian, this gave me a better appreciation for how large the Mediterranean is.

You could squeeze the Mediterranean into the Australian outback without having to flood any major Australian city.
It scares me how big Australia actually is
I’ve never had a feeling for how big Australia actually is. Turns out it’s really big. Thank you
Wow, thats a good point of view
A country as large as a continent with a population less than half of Italy’s.
This would make a good Civilization mp!
Seems like a lot of work but what would the benefit be?
So…Austrlia is baiscally the Roman Empire?
The funny thing about this compared to the US version, is that for the vast majority of Australians nothing has changed.
At least until you factor in the climate effcts etc.
There’s the inland sea the colonizers were looking for
Always love to see unique perspectives like this, well done.
Looks like the Roman empire!
In that context it’s pretty absurd how far Perth is to Sydney for example. Compared to like Lisbon to Iran or something
Nice idea for a HOI4 map
Lets do it! Create a ‘Mare Australiensis’.
If this happened, at least 3 people would die.
This one is kinda confusing, could you add a banana for scale?
Fun fact. People predicted an Inland sea once

Ah yes there’s Austalia and Aureece
Water instead of the outback, not a bad trade.
As an Australian, this makes me realise the Mediterranean Sea is bigger than I thought!
Imagine how much better an inland sea might make Australia. Maybe not *that* big, but something a quarter of that size.
Can we make this happen? Australia would make much more sense with a giant inland sea tbh.

This map needs ro be a mod for EU4 or civ or something!!
Inland Australia would actually be livable.
Would anything of value be lost if we put that sea in there? It’s mostly desert right?
you would kill 3 people
Shouldn’t there be a Harald Holt Bay somewhere?
Is it 1:1 or one of them had been scaled up? Because everything seems to be too perfectly scaled, including the Gibraltar.
