Comparative size of Australia and the Mediterranean Sea.

  1. You could squeeze the Mediterranean into the Australian outback without having to flood any major Australian city.

  2. The funny thing about this compared to the US version, is that for the vast majority of Australians nothing has changed.

At least until you factor in the climate effcts etc.

  3. In that context it’s pretty absurd how far Perth is to Sydney for example. Compared to like Lisbon to Iran or something

  4. Imagine how much better an inland sea might make Australia. Maybe not *that* big, but something a quarter of that size.

  5. Can we make this happen? Australia would make much more sense with a giant inland sea tbh.

  6. Would anything of value be lost if we put that sea in there? It’s mostly desert right?

  7. Is it 1:1 or one of them had been scaled up? Because everything seems to be too perfectly scaled, including the Gibraltar.

  8. Wouldn’t it be amazing if Australia did have the great inland sea that early explorers were searching for, moderating it’s climate. An Australia with the geography of that image would have a much smaller land area, but could support a much larger population.

  9. I saw this pic somewhere with a comment of “if you actually did this it would drown, like, five people”
