99% it is – at least most of the sauerkrauts are.
A simple test – if it was stored in a fridge, there might have been a chance it wasn’t pasteurized, but I bet it was on a regular shelf, therefore we can assume it is.
It may have been even mentioned on the other side; regarding it is in Russian, the word you might want to see is “пастеризованная” or “продукт пастеризованный”
If the lid is sucked in, it is.
It’s kapusta in Polish… It’s sauerkraut in German…
It only says that it’s lightly salted and crunchy, nothing else.
But as far as I read before, when you buy this in jars it should be pasteurized to kill the live bacteria so that the fermentation doesn’t continue.
Don’t take my word for it 100%, I’m not the producer and I’m not a scientist or anything like that, but it’s the information I got from the internet.
Maybe Poles in this subreddit can jump in and lets us know if kapusta here is usually pasteurized ?
It is like ogorki malosolne guys ( kwaszone but not kiszone) – it is sauerkraut so cabbage that was proccesed via fermentation in a salt brine. Most likely not heavily fermented, just a bit to make it last, get good gut bacteria, and taste the way sauerkraut or “fermented cabbage” should.
