  1. I tried renting a car in Italy for the end of the month for 2 days and it’s about the same. Now that’s an anomaly as I was there last month and rented a car for a week with full insurance for around 500, but tourist season for very short durations tends to be expensive because they would rather the car be rented for more longer profitable trips.

  2. Apparently european rental companies are struggling to get new cars delivered so there is a shortage. They won’t sacrifice profit so therefore charge more rental for the smaller fleet they have to make up for it.

  3. they sold off their cars during covid and now with the chip shortage they can’t get cars

  4. Car rentals are wickedly expensive now. So is petrol, food, hotels, and everything else.

Welcome to inflation. Say “thank you” to the EU politicians who sanctioned Russia and thereby cut off our cheap energy supply
