The UK is a powder keg ready to go off and they know it. From their perspective they need to really heavily lay down the narrative that any signs of public discontent, strike and protest are selfish, thuggish and idiotic.
You need to *hate* protestors. If it comes down to bricks being thrown around central London they want you to be cheering on the Police on the horses mowing the people down.
As always us plebs down here in the bucket of crabs are being poked with a stick. Are you going to fall for it?
MPs miss the point that strikes wouldn’t be necessary if employers would offer fair pay deals which address the cost of living.
It’s self-defeating of any commuter (who is by definition, a person who works for a living) to be angry at transport workers. If they win their strike battle that sets a helpful precedent for the battles which are inevitable in every other industry.
So a practically unmanned rail service is earmarked for more redundancies and pay freezes. Solidarnosc
So, the DfT – the government body on charge of trains – refuse to talk with union leaders who, as is their role, are trying to negotiate a pay rise after three years of pay freeze and thereby forcing them to do something they and their members are uncomfortable doing and strike, yet its the unions fault.
Gotta love the right wing media.
More people should be striking, not just train staff. Have a look on the TUC website for the union that best suits your job.
Interesting that the government, the ones with the power to stop this, choose to publicly criticise and condemn rather than come to the table and negotiate (what the rmt is asking for).
What about the employers who are not providing the conditions the workers are asking for that would avoid this strike? Why are they not being branded as selfish or cruel?
Well that’s unions
The rail strikes have caused me a lot of stress and headaches over the years with getting to work. But i am 100% behind the strikers. The people to blame for this are the rail companies and the gov. Not the staff who are overworked and under appreciated.
That’s funny because all the commuters I know are saying “good on them, I wonder if we could do the same”
The government who control the finances are refusing to negotiate. Then pouring out this kind of hate towards workers.
Definitely helping Stoke the us Vs them mentality. Hell you cant even get thing to be reported correctly which only helps the government. As the figures they come out with are bullshit and most of the time they make sure to not mention the fucking job cuts or changes planned to contracts either.
Well fuck em they’ve got a fight on their hands.
It’s not about cash. It’s about the conditions and the MPs love having a convienent distraction. If they can demonise railway workers for wanting better conditions then they can distract people.
Can’t wait for the government to do nothing about them, cause more discontent and then when they’re thrown out say “we tried EvErYtHiNg”
These selfish people disrupting people’s work lives, how dare they!
They get an allowance to rent a home near their place of work, they make over three times the average UK salary and are able to use public funds to their personal benefit. Really, the nerve. How can it be that bad for them when they probably have two or three other jobs and just phone it in to their main job?… What do you mean “no”? Well if they’re not clever enough to learn from us MPs then they’ll get no sympathy from me, no wonder they’re working class. Cretins! By the way, please vote for me! Thanks!
France, Spain and Italy ban rail strikes. As a reuslt they have cheaper and more reliable rail.
We should do the same.
Wonder how many of the strikers will be arrested. Striking is a protest and a rail strike is disruptive. Last I checked disruptive protests are illegal.

Other workers are not your slaves. Get over it.

Or am I wrong on this?
