Cumulative confirmed Covid-19 deaths per million people since the beginning of the pandemic for the 10 most populous EU countries (incl. UK), evolution since January.

  1. The hospitals in the Netherlands are completely full, our healthcare is facing critical levels. If cases and hospitalisation don’t drop quickly we’ll be seeing a spike in deaths as we’ll be unable to help them.

I also think that deaths related to inaccessible healthcare aren’t included. People aren’t getting critical care within 6 weeks anymore as there isn’t any room, which can result in death. These deaths can be found in the excess mortality charts I suppose.

  2. It would be interesting if they now annualised these figures. You don’t combine flu deaths for years previously.

  3. Yeah, we had a really rough start, but thankfully managed to reduce accumulation significantly.

  4. In case some is interested:

    – The EU average is at the level of Spain

    – The US is slightly above Belgium

    – With Czechia and Hungary there are two medium sized EU countries that are even higher than Romania

    – But these statistics should be taken with some caution because the measurement and data collection might differ from country to country. Excess mortality seems to be the better indicator

  5. Worth noting that the Netherlands has a large amount of excess death that is still unaccounted for. Their real death numbers are certainly well above their official numbers.
