    **Translation:**

    > The federal government have reached a deal about the defense budget. By 2035, it will be increased to 2% of the GDP, the percentage that NATO expects from it’s member States.

    > The Kern was meeting since 11.30AM about the matter. Among others, the green didn’t want an increase of means for defense. They pleaded for more investments in renewable energy and climate measures. 6 conditions are reportedly linked to the budget increase, among which that the investments in the defense department don’t go at a cost of the climate.

    > Earlier this year, Vivaldi already agreed to increase the defense budget to up to 1,54% of the GDP, by 2030.

    > At 7.30PM a press conference follows in the Wetstraat. Supposedly there’s also been an agreement on prolonging energy measures.

  2. Damn man more money to the military. Money that in my opinion is completely wasted. For people saying that it is not outrageous. USA spends about 3.4 procent in military and we find that extremely outrageous. If we were to spend 2% we are spending as much as 60% of what America is spending.

We are going to spend more then China does right now.

  3. Everyone pitches in and we can keep being too dangerous to attack. Might not mean much to us, nestled to the rear behind a bunch of other countries, but those on the borders might be happy to hear there’s a few more BTGs available should the need arise. Also, it would make us less reliant on the US for defense, overall

  4. And they smoothen it over with stupid gifts to the Greens so they are happy…as if the Ukraine war is not a sign enough that Western Europe as a whole should invest more in its own defense.

Some parties should not be let anywhere near the government.

  5. Rly doubt this is gonna happen. By 2035 we ll have had 12 other goverments all saying other things but all facing the same problem : there is no money

  6. Bring it to 0%. Who tf is gonna attack belgium? If if they were to attack us they have to get through neighbours which zre much richer and more powerful

  7. Lmao so by 2035 we will perhaps fulfill our promise to spend 2% by 2024. This gov is an utter joke.

  8. You are very much mistaken to think this has anything to do with Russian speaking people, nato or territory. It’s like believing the USA invaded Iraq to bring freedom and democracy. It’s money and power.
Ukraine choose the West and with the newly found gas and oil reserves in the Donbas and Crimea it would loose its status as Europe’s gasstation. So a lot less power and money for Putin and friends. They won’t give the donbass back because of this reason.
Russia needs to be utterly beaten on the battlefield and made a shell of its former self so they can’t pull this shit again.
