Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued a stern rebuke to Laos following its endorsement of China’s territorial claims over Taiwan, branding the statement as a historical and political distortion, according to Taiwan News.
Officials expressed alarm that such support could embolden Beijing’s aggressive posturing, potentially interpreting it as a green light for using force.
Further criticism was leveled at Laos for allegedly succumbing to diplomatic pressure, warning that close ties with Beijing may increase economic vulnerabilities, especially regarding projects related to the Belt and Road Initiative.
