  1. Bit late to party in that one. Im sure most here have noticed higher increases in the core items of there weekely shop.

For me regulars such as pasta, potatoes, fresh veg and meat are running well above 15%

  2. Just wait until they whack up interest rates to “fix” inflation by making sure 90% of the Country are equally bankrupt.

  3. Did a barbecue for my kids the other day. Last minute, butchers was shut so I nipped to the supermarket. Only burgers they had were 4 fecking quid for 2.

Took my mum to our old local for a Sunday roast. Went for chicken. 11 quid, ton of veg and gravy, 2 (two!) miserly bits of chicken breast. Thought it was a mistake but my mum’s was the same.

Seems to be getting beyond a joke.

  4. One thing I have noticed is that it seems to be viable to shop locally now (at the butchers or local farm shop).

I understand this may not be an option for some, but the point I’m making is I have noticed that although these outlets used to be significantly more expensive than the supermarket, the prices are more or less at parity now for items such at meat and vegetables.

I am presuming this is because the food does not have to be shipped as far for processing & packaging as most of the supermarket items and as such is more insulated from the fuel cost rises that are affecting everything else.

    Has anyone else noticed this?

  5. It’s sad to see how the word inflation has become meaningless. There’s no “food inflation”, there’s simply rising food prices. Driven by a self inflicted peak oil scenario, supply chain shocks and climate change rather than actual monetary inflation. Reducing the money supply is economists and banks pulling the only lever they have left in desperation after decades of short sighted policies.
