The Jackson Police Department is exploring new technology that leaders say could help officers combat violent crime and improve public safety across the capital city.Police Chief RaShall Brackney and members of the department’s leadership team recently met with representatives from SoundThinking, a company that develops data driven public safety technology used by law enforcement agencies across the country.According to JPD, discussions focused on advanced crime fighting tools designed to help officers respond more quickly to incidents, improve investigations and strengthen overall crime prevention efforts.The department said the goal is to support officers in the field while using technology and strategic partnerships to improve safety for residents, businesses and visitors.JPD did not announce whether any new technology systems have been approved or when they could potentially be implemented.
