As you point out, it’s 5 years minimum, which means 100% value for 5 years minimum.
There was a law passed recently (but may only apply to prepaid gift cards) that they can’t expire within 5 years of purchasing.
Would be worth looking into to see if vouchers are covered.
Was this bought from the hotel, or did the hotel issue it as complimentary?
Dont go there. I’ve worked here. They treat staff awful( well they used to when I worked there) totally over priced much nicer hotels in kildare
1(c) is not legal. As far as I know 1(a) and 1(b) are legal, though that’s very aggressive depreciation. I defs wouldn’t be buying that. Terrible value for money if you don’t use it inside of 12 months.
Its like itchy and scratchy money
One4All do similar thing but call it an inactivity charge. After the first 12 months, the company will start deducting €1.45 a month from the value of the card.
When will people learn not to ever buy vouchers / gift cards? It’s like paying 50 € to give someone else 15 €, if lucky.
Oh no you included their phone number, be terrible if people kept ringing them asking to explain their voucher policy
Good spot. Have eaten here recently and enjoyed it.
The One for All vouchers do something similar. They call it an admin fee for inactivity or some rubbish like that. Best advice is to avoid all those scam vouchers.
As someone who works in a hotel and has issued gift vouchers for the past 3-4 years, this looks very sus and scammy.
Right shower of wtf??
What a shower. Hotels are SOOOO hard up these days.
Was the law changed( being valid for 5 years) after this voucher was gifted?
I’m assuming the above conditions were given with the voucher? If so the hotel hasn’t done anything wrong in my eyes , ok a bit shit that it deprecated so quickly but this was made clear on the day of purchase.
They redeemed themselves by accepting in full now with no hassles.
Why change vouchers you can use anywhere for vouchers you can use in one place for one year?
I genuinely enjoy reading this kind of quality bullshit & thinking of the bollocks who came up with it, completely unaware that just because he or she thinks something is ok doesn’t make it ok.
Look at how the sentences are written, with all the confidence of someone who ‘knows the law’.
Unfortunately, the prick who wrote it will continue with their bullshit elsewhere & likely focus on stuff that isn’t so easy to catch them on.
Don’t get anything with mashed potato there, absolutely foul.
I love tackling these kind of situations where you know you’re gonna win.
