The truly sad thing is that ‘rapist gets sent to prison’ is news. It shouldn’t be news. Rapists being sent to prison should be the norm in this country, but with how underfunded our justice system is (on both prosecution and defence) it’s not.

Four years? Less than 2% of reported rape ends in a conviction and the rapist gets four years? If he beat someone up, knocked someone over the head or ran them over, he would get more. Why is rape so badly punished in this country? It’s shocking.

Given how obstructive the system is for victims of sexual assault and rape, that sorta means nothing. This guy is a rapist and while it doesn’t factor into the sentencing i think off the record anyone with a brain knows this is just the first time he got reported/caught.
Abusers like this are frequently “well liked and respected” by their peers. It makes it harder for their victims to be believed.
The custodial sentence is pathetic. The only real justice here is the ruining of his marriage and career… but it’s not enough.
