Ceske Budejovice – the birthplace of Budweiser beer

  1. It’s fun to imagine that at some point in the past a tourist (likely an American) visited this beautiful city and went to a bar and ordered a budweiser beer and after being served the local brew asked that it be sent back for the American version.

  2. Actually, this is the birthplace of Budvar beer. Later an American company licensed the name and produced a unrelated beer that uses rice instead of wheat, calling it Budweiser

Finally, the Budweiser company came back and tried to sue the Budvar company for trademark infringement _in their own country._

That didn’t go well. Such arrogance.

I have had thousands of different beers. Budweiser isn’t the absolute worse – the caramel beer you can get in German supermarkets is even worse than it sounds, and it sounds terrible, and I like caramel! – but it’s down there in the bottom 1%.
