One of Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged accusers, Jess Michaels, responded to the BBC report, telling The Telegraph, “Six years ago, the Palace knew Andrew wasn’t just a problem; he could face a criminal investigation. And they sat on it.”
Michaels continued, saying that the palace’s cover-up did damage to other Epstein accusers, including the late Virginia Giuffre.
“Protecting him meant doubting her,” she said. “Virginia Roberts Giuffre was telling the truth, and she didn’t live to see them admit it. That breaks my heart, and it should break everyone’s.”

She added, “This is what institutions do. They protect powerful men and leave the people they harmed to carry it.”
“I’m glad the UK is finally investigating,” she said. “A little late, but it’s the very least they could do. Meanwhile, our own government named us as victims, shields the men who harmed us, and still treats us like the problem.”

Andrew was arrested in February 2026 on his 66th birthday and was released 11 hours later. His arrest came after Andrew was accused of misconduct in public office, after he allegedly “shared confidential information with the late Jeffrey Epstein while acting as a trade envoy for the U.K.”
Buckingham Palace declined to comment on the matter to the BBC.
