43°C (109.4°F) when I arrived in Granada this week. The heatwave is real.

  1. Don’t trust in that temperature. Asphalt effect + direct sun exposure are altering it. Look at the official AEMET temperature (or even the less accurate Google one). Heatwave is real but is not as bad as it looks there.

  2. That is probably 5 or more degrees less than shown. Those thermometers do not give accurate readings when is too hot because they accumulate heat.

  3. Those thermometers are not the most reliable sources of information.

Being painted in dark paint while being directly hit by sunlight means they will absorb a lot of heat and they will keep that heat. Also, will take more time to cool down.

The real value probably was a few degrees less but Doesnt change a bit the heat sensation.

  4. I currently live here. While it’s true that those readings aren’t too accurate, living in Granada right now is almost unbearable without AC. I’ve been having 3-4 showers a day just to cool down my body temp and remove so much sweat from just standing and studying. Luckily nights aren’t *that* bad if you leave all windows open

  5. I mean I see those sorts of temperatures daily during July – August in Cordoba/Sevilla. While this may be a heatwave for June, not so much in the heat of summer. Get ready.

  6. Todo este lado de Europa ardiendo en calor y yo aquí en Coruña con lluvia, granizo, y 17 grados. De qué sirve vivir en la playa si nunca hay sol ni calor? Si alguien quiere cambiar me avisa porfa

  7. Lo de esta semana ha sido de locos, incluso para la epoca del año. Al menos, hoy no hemos pasado de los 30 grados.

What happens this week have been crazy, also for this stage of the year. At least, today we are just at 30º
