Finland and Germany signed a letter of intent regarding the armored vehicle system
On 14 June 2022, the Finnish and German Ministries of Defense signed a letter of intent regarding Germany’s accession to the Finnish-led joint project on the armored vehicle system. On the basis of the letter of intent, Finland and Germany will continue negotiations on Germany’s accession, future research and development work and possible joint procurement.
The purpose of the joint project is to develop an armored vehicle system to meet the common requirements and needs of the participants. For the time being, in addition to Finland, the joint venture includes Latvia, Sweden and Estonia. Patria’s 6×6 vehicle chassis has previously been selected as the basis for research and development.
To date, the research and development phase of the joint venture has been completed for the crew transport vehicle version. It is possible for third countries to join the joint project with the support of existing participants.
