Adults Accessing Emergency Accommodation (Jan 2016 to April 2022)

    7,105 homeless adults accessed emergency accommodation at the end of April, of these 4,991 were in Dublin. There were also 2,209 homeless children (from 956 homeless families) in Dublin. Nationally, there are 1,306 homeless families, 2,148 adults and 2,944 children.

    But most important are the trends, the number of adults accessing emergency accommodation almost doubled in the last 6 years, from Jan 2016 to April 2022 an increased from 3,760 to 7,105.

    And since April 2021 the rise accelerated, after a pause during the pandemic, the number of adults accessing emergency accommodation increased from 5889 to 7105, an increase of 21% (+1,206) in a year.
