ASHLAND, Ore. – UPDATED: June 2, at 11;15 p.m.
A natural gas leak at Vista and South First Street has been fixed and the shelter in place order is lifted.
Avista Utilities, Ashland Fire & Rescue and Emergency Management teams responded to the leak.
Avista crews are working through the night to restore service to homes and businesses.
According to the city, residents who do not have their natural gas restored within 24 hours should contact Avista at 800-227-9187.
A 4-inch steel gas pipe has ruptured in the area of Vista and South 1st Street.
Ashland Fire & Rescue and Avista Utilities are on scene.
Residents in the immediate area are asked to shelter in place until the leak is contained.
Avista crews are working to shut off an estimated four valves, some located below asphalt. The process is expected to take one to two hours.
