Archaeologists find complete 1st century Roman sanctuary in the Netherlands

  1. Today has been an excellent day for archeology. Hercules marble head in Crete, Bassania in Albania and a Roman sanctuary in Gelderland 👏

  2. While Italians might almost trip over these kinds of archeological finds, this is a completely unprecedented discovery for the Netherlands. A complete temple with intact votive stones, and special features such as an ornamental water pit.

I hope (and think) that this can provide much more detailed insight into Roman (spiritual) life in the Germanic regions. Really excited about this.
