CHIPPEWA COUNTY, Wis. (WQOW) – The 47th president of the United States, Donald J. Trump, is set to visit the Chippewa Valley on Friday.

18 News broke the story on the President Trump’s Friday visit on Monday after the visit from U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.
Regional Press Secretary Liz Huston told WQOW the president is returning to Wisconsin to highlight his support for Wisconsin farmers.
Chippewa County has been gearing up for immense crowds with the arrival of the commander in chief.
Sheriff Travis Hakes said the visit comes with heightened security measures on top of their daily responsibilities. Area law enforcement will have high security for the event itself, the president’s travel route and any other stops he may make.
Wisconsin’s 3rd Congressional District Representative Derrick Van Orden is undoubtedly excited for the leader of the United States to come to town.
Van Orden sees the visit as proof of Republican commitment to rural America. He said President Trump’s tariffs have been a win for farmers and led to over a dozen agricultural trade deals with other countries.
The rare event is not being celebrated by all politicians, however.
Governor Tony Evers, who visited Osseo on Thursday, said a lot of small farms in Wisconsin feel that they’ve been abandoned, and that “you’ll probably hear something different with the President.”
Gubernatorial candidate Mandela Barnes was in the area Wednesday. He criticized the visit by the president as “out of touch” and said the president has not been good for rural America upon the fallout of tariffs and the Iraq war.
A local political science expert says the visit could have an impact on the races on the ballot this fall.
University of Wisconsin-Stout Polytechnic Political Science Professor Kim Zagorski told 18 News on Thursday that the presidential visit is a chance for politicians such as Van Orden and gubernatorial candidate Tom Tiffany to show supporters of Trump that they are aligned with the president.
