What is this thing in my sauna? from Finland

  1. It appears your sauna came with a female gollum. That’s where she keeps her spare tampon.

  2. Usually these type of wooden, uh, grills (?) are in front of air vents, in this case it looks like a temperature measuring thingy

  3. I’m in the US but just installed my electric sauna (made in Finland) . That should be a thermostat connected to the stove. According to my manual it’s meant to be installed inside the sauna and monitor the heat in the room. It is meant to activate a shut off signal to the stove incase of overheating.

  4. Saunaklonkku utensil for those too squeamish to use their own digits. Considered somewhat unsportsmanlike and a bit of a social faux pas in Finland, where people tend to swear by the more traditional fingerstyle.

  5. Some of these replies… 😀

But yeah looks like a temperature probe as many people have mentioned. Not a thermostat by itself but a part of a system. In all likelihood your sauna stove has a dial to set the desired temperature and obviously it wouldn’t make sense to measure it at or near itself since it would be too high or too low hence the external sensor near where the people will be.

  6. Funny, never seen this in a sauna. (TIL it’s a thermostat). Maybe I’ve never paid attention and now will see them everywhere.

  7. It is the laude holder for your pallit when you need your boys lifted up just a little. You take the mini lauteet and place it in between your legs so your pallit can have a hyvä sauna as well.

  8. Remember to throw water on the big electrical box filled with rocks in the corner of the sauna.

  9. It’s a Sauna Elf spawner blocker. Put the lid back on this instant before the elves start spawning in your Sauna they will hide your other sock.. FROM EVERY PAIR. Truly vicious monsters..
