Fayetteville leaders say they are moving to tighten rules on data centers.According to Mayor Molly Rawn, state law prevents cities from banning data centers outright, so Fayetteville is working to strengthen existing regulations.The drafted legislation that would “strengthen city code when it comes to data centers as our utility customers, even when outside city limits,” according to Rawn.She said the proposed changes would give Fayetteville more control over water use and prioritize residents over large data center operations.
