Wow coo, maybe an article or link instead of a crappy picture from a 1970s era textbook might be in order?
That’s cool!
Romans never conquered the northern part of the Netherlands though; that part of the Rhine was too hard?
Amazing
I would find an animation of the process of building this using 2,000 year old tech very erotic
Thanks for posting
The Terror of Latin students across the continent.
This is what the fellow in The Red Turtle wanted to build
Afair Caesar had this bridge built, crossed it, slapped the Germans around, crossed it back to Gaul and burned the bridge behind him, showing he had the biggest schlong, mic drop, basta.
Imagine the beavers swarming like piranhas.
This was the first (roman built) bridge across the Rhine and the first location for Julius Cesar to make a “Rheinübergang”.
It’s covered in De Bello Gallico
So much wasted budget… or maybe his short stroll around the other side of the Rhine was to scare peoples there so that someone like Ariovistus would not emerge again?
I had the book this image is from when I was young. I’m not sure where it is. I think my brother has it now.
