Now do one for daily number of tests conducted per million people, or positivity rate, or daily deaths. You cherry pick the metric that makes the UK look bad.
There have been several large-scale anti-everything-helpful protests here (Austria) and other countries in the last few days, so that figure is only gonna go up ⬆️
Is there a similar one for deaths on a rolling average 7 days and one for vaccinations ?
We can still beat the UK if we just have a few more anti-lockdown marches…
Interesting how last year the US had a local peak in ~august and EU in ~november, and this year the US a local peak near august again. Maybe something to do with different climates, i dunno.
So it’s *Compare The UK To The EU Average Day again*, is it?
The UK rate is high but the UK is equivalent to a Member State, and several have worst 7-day rolling averages.
I do wonder if Boris will end up being vindicated for his ‘if not now, when?’ Aporoach to just getting it over and done during the summer. A relatively managable 40k cases a day for months at a time seems preferable to the numbers seen in the Netherlands and Austria who played it relatively safe all summer only to have to immediately lock down again.
The other interesting thing is that in England there are effectively no rules and haven’t been since July. In Wales and Scotland you’ve still got indoor masking and vaccine passports and if you look at case numbers it doesn’t really seem to make any difference.
