Mica has a positive use as an additive to paint for some cars to give a pearlescent finish. By contrast, metallic paint on cars contains particles of metal which sparkle.
There’s also iridescent paint finishes, usually aftermarket rather than factory but no idea how those are made. Unicorns from Halfords probably.
I don’t know what mica is and at this point I’m too afraid to ask

What does it do if you put it in water?
Also found in skincare and toothpastes! For shimmery effects.
