Leading digital commerce companies, including Amazon, Meesho, Eternal, Swiggy and Zepto, have joined forces to launch the Digital Commerce Coalition, an industry-led body aimed at supporting the growth of India’s digital commerce sector.

The coalition focuses on issues such as consumer trust, responsible innovation, economic participation and sustainable growth across the digital commerce sector.

In a statement, the group said it will serve as a platform for stakeholder engagement, policy discussions, research and knowledge sharing. It will also work on improving customer experiences, expanding opportunities for entrepreneurs and small businesses, strengthening supply chains, supporting delivery partners and contributing to wider economic development.

The launch comes as digital commerce adoption continues to grow in India, including beyond major metropolitan markets.

New Delhi-based public policy consulting firm Koan Advisory Group will act as the coalition’s secretariat, supporting its research, engagement and convening activities.

“Digital commerce is making everyday consumption more convenient while also enabling new avenues of livelihood and entrepreneurship for millions,” said Jaskiran Bedi, Head of Public Policy at Eternal.

Prachi Bhuchar, Head of Public Policy at Meesho, said the sector has created entrepreneurship opportunities, particularly for small businesses and underserved markets, and that collaborative industry initiatives could help drive more inclusive growth as e-commerce adoption deepens across India.

Rachit Ranjan, Chief Policy Officer at Zepto, said industry-wide collaboration was important because “no single company can solve for key priorities alone”. He added that greater cooperation could help address challenges related to MSME access, supply chains and consumer trust.

The coalition said it will also provide a forum for thought leadership and knowledge sharing to help ensure the sector’s growth remains responsible and future-ready.

The Digital Commerce Coalition joins other technology industry groups in India, including the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI), the Alliance of Digital India Foundation (ADIF) and the Startup Policy Forum (SPF), which engage with policymakers on issues affecting technology and internet businesses.

Flipkart was not named among the companies listed in the coalition’s launch announcement.
