The Hungarian Grand Prix certainly delivered a big twist in the MotoGP championship as the top three riders in the championship standings were all taken out at the very first corner.
Just as he did in the Japanese sprint race last year, Jorge Martin once again took out his teammate Marco Bezzecchi in a turn one incident which also took down Fabio Di Giannantonio, Fermin Aldeguer and Raul Fernandez.
Thankfully all riders were okay but the crash could have big implications for the championship as neither Aprilia rider will score any points.
Martin penalized for Lap 1 incident
As a result of the incident, Jorge Martin has been handed a double long lap penalty, which he will have to serve at the next round, the Czech Grand Prix, on the 19th June.
