Spain’s live birhs trends over the past five years

  1. Stagnated wages since 2008. Ever increasing housing prices. Ridiculously high unemployment. Why are live births declining? It’s a mystery.

  2. Heh,turns out all those decades of money printing and public deficit did indeed have an effect on the economy and spaniards have been stuck with the same wages for years while everything has been getting more and more expensive

Seems like indeed inflation hits back and hits hard, especially on the youth, the ones supposed to have the babies, but if It isnt already hard for them to get a job,we better not Talk about It being well paid so that lets them move out right?

Our generation is doomed, and the trend is getting worse unless get rid of the current economic policies, give the economic power back to spaniards, not the state,we want to be able to make a living, not get the state to give us one, spanish fiscal effort is amongst the highest in Europe

  4. Number of kids per woman is INVERSELY correlated to wealth, female empowerment and LGBT rights

The pandemic had a temporary effect, but the long term decline is due to positive things, and it is happening all over the world

India just got under 1.98, mexico dell to 1.68, even france is at 1.7 which is helped by inmigrant populations

This is not “kids being selfish” or “economy is shit” but rather “people have more freedom and are choosing what makes them happier”

Otherwise, the wealthy in Spain would have many kids, THEY DONT, because it is not a problem of money, for most people (otherwise, why did people in the 50s had so many?)

  5. I have two sons, one was born in 2020 and the other one this year, just one month ago. My wife and I have both jobs and she is 32 and me 34. I think that the problem is that people don’t want kids because they preffer to get a good job first. But we think the opposite first have kids an then you probably get a better job (there are studies about this)
