Got my bonus in my pay today. Seen the tax and nearly got sick.

  1. Have had a bonus the past 5 years, each and every year would have lost 51.5% to taxes. It’s brutal.

    Lucky to be working for a company that offers a share participation scheme. You effectively divert your entire pre-tax bonus into shares in the company and only pay income tax on the dividends and capital gains tax whenever you sell the shares.

    Only catch is you have to hold the shares for a minimum of 3 years.

  2. AVC’s and ask for EUR 500 of it as a Perx card or similar, they can be spent anywhere unlike All4One. Talk to that being increased to 1000 per year later this year. Will reduce the tax at least

  3. Try paying that level of tax every month!!!

    and out of that run a home in Dublin, Castlebar and Brussels. I wanna tell you something, try it sometime when you’ve 3 cars and 3 homes and a couple of house keepers.

    But remember it’s a well paid job!
