Have had a bonus the past 5 years, each and every year would have lost 51.5% to taxes. It’s brutal.
Lucky to be working for a company that offers a share participation scheme. You effectively divert your entire pre-tax bonus into shares in the company and only pay income tax on the dividends and capital gains tax whenever you sell the shares.
Only catch is you have to hold the shares for a minimum of 3 years.
AVC is your friend in this situation, otherwise kiss goodbye to half your bonus every year.
AVC’s and ask for EUR 500 of it as a Perx card or similar, they can be spent anywhere unlike All4One. Talk to that being increased to 1000 per year later this year. Will reduce the tax at least
